It's no secret that dining in a bland restaurant doesn't help boost the ambiance, which is all the fun when wining and dining out. Between the cool decor, funky furniture, and odd collectibles, restaurants help transport you to feel like you're sitting in a café in southern Italy or sitting poolside in LA, like every millionaire should.
Whether you are on a date, catching up with friends, or meeting for mimosas, the location is just as important as the food and the company, if not even more important, so let's take a tour of some of the most instagrammable restaurants.
This restaurant and bar may mislead upon arrival, with its convenience store front and dim lighting, but I can assure you that it is beyond any average bar, and how you may ask? A vast majority of the bathroom is covered with neon pink lights, a sign that says 'Party Line', plus an array of vintage telephones to give you something to post about.
If you're worried that this resto-bar is just a gimmick for the gram, you don't have to worry. Convenience has a full menu of deluxe diner food and drinks to complete the experience. Their "BCB" (Beyond Convenience Burger) is a definite hit for meat lovers and vegans alike, especially with the truffle parm fries, and the s'mores in a glass for dessert.
While the name sounds like an urban mom's dream, it's actually a very well established vegan-focused restaurant with an eye for decor. The combination of rustic floors to modern seating helps to make you feel like a modern day Queen or King without the need to overdress to impress.
Planta, as well as their sister store, Planta Burger, do an excellent job at incorporating upper scale dining in a semi-casual setting, using blacks, whites, greys, browns, and golds, creating the perfect ambiance to make your followers ask "Where?" and "When?"
Planta too offers all of the top-of-the-top menu items, which would never make you guess they are plant-based professionals. The snacks and sides, especially their cauliflower tots and truffle fries, are to die for and are a great appetizer for their amazing entrees, such as the mushroom bolognese and their veganized sushi rolls, which compliments all their desserts exceptionally well, but the chocolate cake is a classic must have.
Another feat about this one-of-a-kind vegan restaurant is that they have numerous locations. Between Yorkville to Queen St, aside from their Miami location, you can dine there twice in one night and nobody can tell you otherwise.
This Italian restaurant is definitely one for the books if you're into modern art, because a lot of the decor could be seen at the MOMA. Between the funky wallpapers and pops of colour, you'll feel as though you're eating at the Museum of Contemporary Art with a gourmet twist.
If this isn't enough to WOW your followers, then their food will definitely do the trick. Their unique pizzas and apps are filled with rare ingredients, such as pumpkin flowers and 'Nduja, which will taunt your tastebuds, oh and your insta followers too!
When looking for a semi meat lovers and vegan-styled restaurant in both the decor and the food, this is one place you cannot say no to. Rosalinda comes with a fresh feel because of the bright colours, such as the white walls, and the plants hanging from the smoothly painted ceiling.
Rosalinda is relatively unique in terms of decor because they are not shy to blend warm and cool colours together to make a high level of contrast in the tone and the atmosphere, which is especially seen through the cool walls and the beautifully warm lighting fixtures.
Despite Rosalinda currently being closed for dine-in, they still have a very creative menu by putting traditional Mexican spins on some classic dishes. Like their Rosalinda (Beyond) Burger topped with iceberg lettuce, pickles, chipotle mayo, and avocado salsa. Or their to-go taco kit, featuring jackfruit or chorizo, Maizal tortillas, pico, charred poblano salsa, hot sauce, and cabbage slaw, both taste very fragrant and flavorful.
It is no secret that a lot of the time vegan food can just be soy on top of soy on top of soy, but you do not have to worry about that here. Each vegan dish does not feel overly soy driven because the other flavors are just as, if not more, powerful.
When looking for a new shrouded retro brunch spot, Flo's has got you covered on all fronts. Located in Yorkville, Flo's doesn't only serve amazing dishes and drinks but shifts you to a whimsical world where milkshakes, red leather booths, plus black and white floors are all that's needed to cure the world, especially nowadays.
There top notch decor of coca-cola paraphernalia and old-timey photos makes you feel like you're in a 50s diner drinking coke and shakes with the Pink Ladies while you gossip about the men in leather jackets, who you wish would swoon for you.
But don't be fooled by the very convincing appearance, because Flo's serves more than burgers, fries, and shakes. Their all day breakfast is just the tip of the iceberg when you flip the pages to discover specialty eggs, some lighter fair (salads and smaller plates), burgers (with a vegetarian option), sandwiches, a dedicated section to grilled cheese, as well as some options to satisfy the chicken and fish devotees. There really is something for everyone at this hidden gem.
I hope you found these restaurants as tempting as I did and that you give them some love.
As always, I hope you are staying healthy and safe.
