Cute Card Ideas For Your Anniversary

Cards, Gifts, & DIYs May 11, 2020

I find one of the toughest parts of being in a relationship is the cards. Does anyone else’s mind just go blank and only manage to confidently say the words “I love you?” If so, then these ideas on how to write some cute and unique cards will leave your partner saying “Wow!”

Poems & Raps

Poems are one idea that never fail to impress your partner in crime. This can be a simple remake of “Roses are red…” or something a little more personal, as it is made from your imagination (with a little bit of help from RhymeZone, if needed). Whether it’s handwritten or typed out and printed, this is sure to bring a smile to your partner's face for being equally sweet and funny.

This can also be elevated by adding a simple beat and creating a rap, to unleash your inner gangster. I would recommend using this if you’re musically inclined or your partner is a music obsesser. Not only does this show that you pay attention to details, but it gives you a chance to shine in your own little world to make your boo smile. Grab a mic, practise your beatboxing skills, and get to rapping.

Flipbooks

Another idea is to make a flipbook expressing your love for your one and only. In case you’re wondering “WTF is that?” I am here to help. Wikihow offers step by step pictures with instructions on how to make one, which is super helpful because it acts like a personal one-on-one guide all for you. If visual learning is your thing, then you can watch a Youtube tutorial to help you understand how to make one.

This is a super easy idea once you get the hang of it, plus the best part is that it doesn’t involve a lot of words. Draw out your emotions to recreate one of your fave dates, the moment you first met, or some of your favourite things about your partner. Not only does this show off your artistic abilities, this is a one of a kind idea that isn’t overly done, which makes it a lot more unique than an average card.

Treasure Hunt

The famous expression that “X marks the spot” can be used as a double entendre, as the X can also signify a kiss for finding the treasure. Simply copy this model for an old treasure map (click here for the Youtube version of the instructions) and replace the places with clues that revolve around some of your best dates. This is a super creative idea, which can be used for 2 months to 12 months. One of the amazing parts about this is that you can totally customize it to your liking by making it as long (or short) as you like, deciding where the treasure is, what the final prize is going to be, etc.

If you want to go all out, I recommend ordering a glass bottle, which can be a tad pricy, and hiding it wherever you choose. This helps to bring the card to life and feel as though there is a reward. This also might motivate your partner to follow the clues, as there is a legitimate prize to be found. Another option is to attach a gift along with the card in the bottle, if you like the idea. Pick a piece of jewelry that you know your partner wants or likes, just to add another layer to your card and to their smile.

I hope these card ideas help to inspire you to create something amazing. I love these gift ideas because they’re fun and have an added element to them, which makes them above average in so many ways.

As always, stay healthy and safe.
